Anna
Chambers is a photographer, gardener, beekeeper and writer. In
particular her photographic interests include small things - bees, insects and
flowers. In general her photographic interests are wide and varied in the world
of gardening, the countryside and animals. She has travelled to visit beekeepers
throughout the UK as well as in Asia and Africa.
Anna
Chambers has won a number of awards for her photography,
including second
prize in the Royal Horticultural Society photographer of the year 2004
(single plant or flower), three first prizes, one second prize and
two third prizes in the National Honey Show 2003/2004 and first prize
in the Royal Show 2004. One of her photographs also features in the 2005
BBC Country File calendar.
Photography is a recent hobby for Anna Chambers. Originally trained in Medical Statistics, Anna worked many years analysing clinical trials data before retraining in horticulture and discovering a whole new world of interests.
Beekeeping
has been in the family for generations. Norfolk born and bred, Grandpa Billy
kept his bees in luxury within smartly painted Cottager style hives. Anna spent
her teenage years with beehives in the back garden in Harrogate.
Anna Chambers has worked with a team of gardeners on a private estate, Wittington Estate, in the sleepy village of Medmenham just outside Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Many of her photos have been taken in or around this beautifully picturesque English garden. She has also worked at the picturesque and well-stocked unique garden centre, Plant and Harvest, in the sleepy Buckinghamshire village of West Wycombe. Anna Chambers is currently employed at the Royal Horticultural Society's northern garden, RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
